Margaret Maxine Sharp
Sharp, Margaret Maxine Deputy
September 11, 1925 – November 11, 2024
Margaret “Maxine” Sharp, age 99, died peacefully on Nov. 11, 2024. She was born in Jennings County, Indiana to the late Charles Deputy and Cleoda Rowland Deputy, and she graduated from Seymour High School in Seymour, Indiana. She married Robert (Bob) Lee Sharp on June 26, 1947, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Maxine was a star pianist from a young age and played accordion in the high school marching band as a junior high student. She was the “go to” piano accompanist in Seymour for years. She resumed playing after moving to St. Louis, accompanying her sons’ school music productions and assisting the high school as a solo competition accompanist, including for her own sons. After retiring as a pianist, she was a stalwart member of the St. Timothy’s Bell Choir.
She lived in Indiana, (O’Fallon) Illinois, St. Louis, San Diego, and Albuquerque during Bob’s military service and career. In Albuquerque she worked as a realtor, a vocation she very much enjoyed.
She is survived by two of her sons, Richard (Rick) Sharp (Karen) and Roger Sharp (Tori), her grandsons Doug Sharp (Susie) and Jeff Sharp, her sister Audra Polley (Gary), three grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. Her son, William (Janette) joined her forty days after her own passing. In addition to Bill, Bob and her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Rowland Deputy, Nelda Foster, and Charles Deputy.
A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 808 N. Mason Road, Creve Coeur, MO 63141 on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (visitation at 10:00 a.m.). In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Gateway City Big Band Scholarship Fund (https://gatewaycitybigband.com) or to the Music Fund at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church (https://www.saint-tims.org).
