Ruth Ann Laudel
Ruth Ann Laudel, 66 years old, passed away peacefully at Evelyn’s House on February 16,
2025 after a brave struggle against cancer. She was born in St Louis on September 27, 1958,
the youngest of three children and the only daughter. Her parents, Lou and Rhoda Laudel,
preceded her in death. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers, Dave (Lin Laudel) and
Louis (Mary Kogut), and her niece, Mackenzie Laudel (Dan Lisowski). She had strong bonds
with her cousins and families, including Cindy Laudel Pratt who was like her sister.
Ruth was a very strong and independent woman who lived life the way she chose. Among her
many interests was a love of dogs, which she shared with the five dogs she cared for over 4
decades. Her final wishes were to ensure the family found loving homes for the two poodles
she currently owned, one of which she trained as a Duo Dog, to provide support at venues like
the USO. She also volunteered at the Humane Society.
With an undergraduate degree in Marketing and a Master Degree in Finance, Ruth’s career
started in retail management then moved to relocation services, where she remained for
decades. She got her realtor license, but found buying and re-habbing four homes in her adult
life most rewarding.
As an avid reader, Ruth explored her interests in gardening, self-improvement, interior design,
and evaluating small businesses and organizations to which she might contribute. She was a
supporter of local businesses, libraries, and charitable organizations. Upon retirement, she was
able to devote more time and care for her parents. She traveled to Italy and to France, utilizing
her French lessons and love of chocolate. And, as the only girl who often thought her brothers
got to have all the adventure, she got her open dive certification and took parachuting lessons.
She had a “wicked sense of humor” and to the chagrin of her brothers, the ability to turn it on
them. This very humor along with her intelligence never left her, even during the months she
fought an incurable and growing cancer. She lived her life with purpose, cultivated many close
relationships with family and friends, and took an active interest in the lives of others. The
social community she built was with her through her final journey.
The family is planning a celebration of her life in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the Humane Society of Missouri or Urban Harvest STL.
Thank You. This is fine, but I was wondering if we can add more photos in the future?
