Marian Armstrong passed away peacefully at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon on February
23, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born in New York City (Manhattan), NY on
November 28,1946. She is predeceased by her parents, Norman and Florence Rotkin,
and her brother and sister-in-law, David and Marjorie Rotkin.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Johanna Engleman, granddaughter,
Amelia Belle Engleman, ex-husband, Grant Armstrong, and many close friends she
considered to be family.
Marian began her career in early childhood education, teaching preschool in a variety of
different settings and locations, from New York to New Zealand to Colorado. Later in life
she transitioned to a career in helping those with mental illness. Marian retired and
spent her later years in Philadelphia, then moved to Missouri to be close to her daughter
and granddaughter towards the end of her life.
Her virtual Celebration of Life took place on April 5th, 2025, and was attended by her
family and closest friends. Many memories, stories, photos, and emotions were shared.
Marian will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, specifically advocating for
individuals she felt were underrepresented. She was honored for the positive impact
she made on the many lives she touched while here on earth.
