Willie Green
Willie Green was born May 23,1934 in Fayette, Mississippi to the union of Johnnie Green, Sr. and Mary Sue Green. His siblings, Johnnie Green, Jr., David Green and Katherine Kisart preceded him in death.
Willie met and married Harriett D. Dotson, April 1, 1955. To this union, 4 children were born. Rhonda Renee Atkinson (Byron), Michelle L. Green, Michael D. Green (Gacinta) and Erik Green.
Willie began working for Belva Manufacturing Company on Martin Luther King Dr. in St. Louis, which was a black haircare product supplier. He started there as a teenager and held several positions with increased responsibility. He continued to manage the company after the owner passed and was well known in the barber shop and beauty salon industry.
Willie became ill in March 2024 and was placed in a nursing facility- Delmar Gardens – North.
He entertained the staff and residents; he made them laugh and they also knew when to stay out of his way. Some of his antics were raiding the nurses snack box and trying to escape out the emergency exits at 2:00 am. His mother stated that he was mischievous as a child and he maintained that behavior as an adult.
His health declined suddenly and in 24 hours, he passed away at 4:45 am, Saturday, 4-26- 25.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife, Harriett, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family and friends.
We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and the medical staff who took care of Willie during his time at Delmar Gardens North and the BJC Hospice staff. We also thank all who have shown us much love and compassion for our loss. We appreciate your support, and words of encouragement.
