
Richard J. Karwoski
May 1, 1938 – May 25, 2025
Richard J. Karwoski, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and retired firefighter, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Maplewood, Missouri, at the age of 87.
Born on May 1, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, Rich proudly served his country in the United States Navy for six years, including four years in the Reserves.
Following his military service, Rich dedicated 31 years to protecting others as a firefighter with the Normandy Fire Protection District in Normandy, Missouri.
Rich was preceded in death by his beloved wife with whom he shared 54 years of marriage with, Cecile Karwoski; his parents, Helen and Jacob Karwoski; and many dear family, friends and fellow firefighters.
He is survived by his only child and daughter, Krista Karwoski-Siebert, and her husband, Stephen Siebert. He was a proud grandfather to Madisyn Bakken (Alex) and Eliza Siebert (Jordan Hilbert).
An avid baseball fan, Rich found great joy in following the St. Louis Cardinals. Whether it was going to games, watching them, or sharing the latest stats and updates, baseball was his lifelong passion.
A memorial Mass will be held to honor Rich’s life on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Old Cathedral (209 Walnut St. St. Louis, MO 63102) in downtown St. Louis at 10am. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate a life of dedication, courage, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The BackStoppers, Inc. of St. Louis, or directed toward relief efforts for victims of the recent St. Louis area tornadoes.
