My grandpa lived a remarkable life and I will always be inspired by the deep love I saw him devote to my beautiful grandmother. The memories of them dancing and laughing will always be a part of me. I miss him everyday but will always be so proud that I’m a part of the amazing family he has made.
Dad,
rest in peace now….
I will miss you..
Love,
Elsa
A wonderful man who welcomed me into his family and made me feel a part of it from the very first day we met.
I remember all of the times our families spent together in our youth. We were family to each other since both of our extended families lived in other countries. We have spent lots of happy times together!
I send my love and prayers to you all!! May God bless you as he has blessed us.
Dr. Vargas, may you rest in peace with your lovely wife, Mercedes!
Love, Anelise
Very sorry to hear of my friends loss of her father. I never met her dad but thank him for sending me his daughter. She is my friend, past neighbor, always my friend.

With heartfelt sympathy to his family. It has been an honor to welcome the Vargas’ into our family since Jaime married my sister. I have many fond memories of a wonderful man who was devoted to his wife and family. May he rest in peace and may you all find peace in your memories and the knowledge that he is rejoicing now with your mother.
Dear Vargas Family,
It was a privilege to know both your Dad & your Mom. Their love for their children & delight in their grandchildren were always quite obvious. Remember how your Dad used to draw wrist watches on all the kids, even the tiny babies?!! He would have that twinkle in his eye as he did it! And your Mom would just shake her head & laugh. They were so devoted to each other. It makes me smile just thinking of them.
The Christmas dinners that your parents shared with the Wissehr family were very special and are fond memories for us all
You have our deepest sympathy & are in our thoughts & prayers.

Thank you so much for the memories Grandpa! I’m going to miss you but I’m so glad you’re back with Grandma again. Love you!
Grandpa, you were one of the best. I am so thankful to be a part of the family that you created. Thank you for all you did for your children and grandchildren. We will miss you. Enjoy every minute of forever with Grandma. Love you!
When I fix the dining table with your tools
When I see my kids off when they go to school
When they beg for a hero story too
I’ll remember you
I’ll remember you, sunshine or rain
I’ll remember you, laughter or pain
When the sky is dark and all light has turned to grey
I’ll remember you
I’ll remember you
When I try to keep the peace instead of fight
When I pray to God every single night
I know everything I do is right
Cause I remember you
I’ll remember you, sunshine or rain
I’ll remember you, laughter or pain
When the sky is dark and the light has turned to grey
When the sky is dark and the light has turned to grey
I’ll look back on life, and see you in everything
I’ll remember you
I’ll remember you

Dear Vargas Family. Your father was a great man. I had very fond memories of him and your family when I was going up. Especially his laughter, and smile. May your dad and mother shine together from the rays of heaven, and may God bless you all. Love David da Silva
The memories you have left me with are ones that I will always carry close to my heart. Thank you Grandpa.
Dear Vargas Family,
Your Dad was a wonderful man. He and your mom, Mercedes, were always so kind to our family. They are a model of a loving marriage, a caring family and dear friends. I remember the early years after our arrival in St. Louis, the gatherings of our families were a mix of Portuguese, Spanish and English and we all understood one another perfectly! May your Dad join your Mom and rest in peace among the angels.
My heartfelt sympathy,
Jacqueline da Silva Stephen

Recordado tío: tu dulzura, sonrisa y sabios consejos siempre van a estar en nuestro corazón. Te vamos a extrañar mucho.
I was privileged to spend a significant part of my childhood with Jaime (Jr.) and Elsa, Margareta, Marta, and German, where Jaime (Sr.) and Mercedes made me feel like part of the family. Jamie Sr.’s favorite words were ’she/her’ (=Mercedes) and ’crazy’, a term of wonder and sometimes admiration, of special meaning because of his so important occupation as a psychiatrist. With an infectious smile and a warm heart, he felt most at ease at home, surrounded by his beloved family.
No doubt reunited with Mercedes (Mama) in heaven, we can all look forward to an eternity of gentle, caring fellowship. We already miss him dearly.
He was a great uncle, great father an great Doctor. I miss him and his advise in every time in my hrad moments. I love you uncle Jaime. God save you for ever.
