Joe Ann Sullivan, beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in St. Peters, Missouri, at the age of 86. Born on January 30, 1939, Joe Ann lived a life filled with love, resilience, and compassion.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Michael Sullivan; her children, Michael David Scheller (Kim Pitliangas) and Laura Elizabeth Scheller; and her stepchildren, Timothy Sullivan, Margie Sullivan, and Michael Sullivan (Cindy). She was a proud grandmother to James Cooper, Joey Keeven, Morgan Sullivan, Lauren Sullivan, Alex Urish, Thaxton Scheller, Vincent Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, James Sullivan, Jessica Delgado, Kailyn Delgado and a loving great-grandmother to Joey Sullivan and Luke Sullivan. Joe Ann is also survived by her brother, Edd Lee Goodman (Martha), and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Sue Goodman and Samuel Goodman Sr; her brother, Samuel Goodman Jr; her beloved aunt, Catherine Purdom; and her stepdaughter, Christine Keeven, her granddaughter, Katie Cooper.
Joe Ann earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Murray State University. She dedicated her professional life to education, serving as a librarian for the Hazelwood School District. Known for her no-nonsense approach, she was famous for sending students away if they didn’t have a hall pass—but always with a twinkle in her eye and a heart full of care.
Outside of work, Joe Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, feeding the birds, sailing, and spending time browsing the aisles of TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. She had a flair for celebration and was known for hosting extravagant holiday parties—each one complete with festive poppers filled with surprises. Every season in her home was thoughtfully curated, complete with matching china, linens, and centerpieces that reflected her eye for beauty and her love for tradition.
In her later years, when she could no longer tend to her beloved garden, her dear friend Andrew Webster stepped in to care for it—helping preserve the peaceful space she had so lovingly created.
Joe Ann will be remembered for the joy she brought to others, the love she gave so freely, and the warmth she spread wherever she went. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A celebration of life will be held at The St. Peter Clarendale on Saturday September 13th 1pm to 3 pm.
