Gene Hackbarth
Gene Hackbarth, a man of many talents and boundless love, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Born on August 26, 1942, Gene lived a full and vibrant life. He was a proud Marine, a dedicated husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was a rich tapestry of service, passion, and skill. He was a Teamster by trade and a mentor by nature, always willing to share his knowledge as a Boy Scout leader, Khoury League baseball coach, and educator. Gene’s talents were many; he was a skilled auto mechanic, a fine wood craftsman, a musician, a songwriter, and an award-winning trap shooter. In his later years, he became a legendary MMORPG player, known for his strategic mind and camaraderie. Above all, he will be remembered for his kind heart, his witty deadpan delivery of humor, and being a true Nutty Buddy aficionado.
He is now reunited with those who passed before him: his father, Floyd W Hackbarth; his mother, Reta A Vought; his brothers, Rex and Gary Hackbarth; his sister, Cathy Ross; and his beloved dogs, Bekki and Bowzer.
His legacy of love and laughter is carried on by his devoted wife of 56 years, Joyce Hackbarth. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Huff; his children: Ken (Tracy) Hackbarth, Adam (Liz) Hackbarth, Lori (Dustin) Maxson, and Rhonda (Robin) Strong; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly, and the many backyard critters.
A private family service will be held to celebrate his remarkable life.
A beautiful caption of his lifetime presence.
Memories of his giving spirit will not fade!
My heart and prayers are with your family.
