Loretta “Laurie” Marie Lynch

Loretta (Laurie) Marie Lynch, age 92, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in her residence at Evertrue – Laclede Groves Senior Living.

Born on July 29, 1933, in St. Louis County to Pearl Loretta Buchheit and Roy Perry Brooks, Laurie lived a full life grounded in creativity, faith, and love.

Laurie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob), with whom she shared a deep and devoted marriage of 51 years, 3 months, and 19 days. After his passing, Laurie often spoke of her unwavering belief that they would be reunited in eternity, perhaps once again antique shopping together searching for that perfect Flow Blue dish – – a heavenly thought that gave her comfort and strength in the 18 years they were apart. Her strong Christian faith shaped her life and gave her peace in her final days.

She spent her career working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture until her retirement, after which she immersed herself even more deeply in her creative passions. Laurie was an exceptionally talented painter who brought beauty into the world through hundreds of hand-painted trinket boxes, vases, furniture pieces, and works of art—many of which were made with her own hands and lovingly gifted to family and friends. Each piece remains a treasured reminder of her artistry and spirit. One such gift was a beautiful nativity set made by Aunt Laurie, which included a crèche carefully crafted by Uncle Bob, given to each family for Christmas years ago.

Laurie had a love for nature, especially plants and flowers, which she admired for their unique beauty. She was also known for her deep affection for any four-legged friend.  She loved sharing stories of the days her and Uncle Bob would show animals in Kansas City.   Everyone knew a sure way to brighten her day was with an animal visit!

Though Laurie and Bob had no children of their own, she was a beloved and cherished aunt to Bob’s nephews and their families. Harold (Carol), Mike (Mary), Tim (Lori), and their children surrounded her with affection, humor, and devoted care through the years. Laurie’s quick wit, loving heart, and “sassy” spirit made her unforgettable to all who knew her.

To honor Laurie’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Goode Life Rescue, an organization that reflects her lifelong love of animals.
