Frederic Schrieber

Frederic Walter “Wally” Schrieber, 88, of St. Louis, Missouri, joined all the saints in heaven on Monday, October 20th, 2025, after battling cancer for several years.

Wally was born in Hastings, Nebraska, the youngest child of Walter and Ella Schrieber, brother to Ruth (Paul) Pallmeyer, Betty (Paul) Pohland, and Edith (Richard) Burgdorf. He graduated from the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959, a proud member of Beta Sigma Psi. He married Margaret (Freudenburg) in 1961, and together they raised Ben (Beth), Amy, and Jennifer (Scott Janssen).

Wally and Marge were blessed with 10 grandchildren, including – Kyle, Blaze, Dakota, Hunter, Matt, Elli, and Benjamin, (Ben); Brooklyn, Addie, and Ben (Jennifer); as well as several great-grandchildren.

A quiet leader known to take his employees at Industrial Process Equipment Company for a walk around the block as they solved high level problems, Wally fixed just about anything that was broken by taking it apart carefully, cleaning it, and putting it back together. He modeled that patient attention to detail in his relationships, as well, never flinching while his grandchildren learned to “measure twice and cut once,” change the oil, or install flooring. If he wasn’t working on a project, Wally was likely to be watching a grandchild’s ballgame, “scoring” a dive into their backyard pool, or officiating a whiffle ball battle. Wally was active: golfing, fishing, camping, and exploring the U.S. with friends and family.

As a faithful follower of Jesus who knew and believed the promises of his Savior, Wally would tear up as he prayed over a meal, thanking His Creator for the gift of salvation through Jesus. His quiet faith directed all he did.

If you were ever in an elevator with Wally, you probably heard him say “You might be wondering why I called this meeting…” We all look forward to our next meeting with Wally, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend!

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood, Missouri at 10:30 a.m., lunch to follow. Visitation will be at the same location Friday, Oct. 31 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

🤎 The Brown Family Loves Wally and The Schrieber Family. The magnanimous spirit of a gentle giant who incessantly & unselfishly gave lots of love & warmth & wisdom to all of his family & friends, (pets included 🙂 A beloved tacit teacher, scholar & gentleman who always illustrated Christ Consciousness in a helpful, cherry, light-hearted & good-natured kind of way. Wally will be remembered by generations because of the remarkable way he wholeheartedly shared his treasure trove of riches throughout his lifetime and made wholesome memories with family & friends in a genuinely loving way that will never be forgotten.

Uncle Wally and Aunt Marge were always the cool, young, hip uncle and aunt when we Pallmeyer children were kids. They always loved us and made us feel welcome. I especially remember Christmas Eve celebrations at their house. We will always cherish the memories. Our thoughts are with you, Aunt Marge, as well as with Jen and Amy during this difficult time.
