Harry Thurmond

Harry Thurmond August 6, 1930 – November 4th, 2011, passed away, peacefully Friday November 4th, at 11:15 PM, at the Pacific Care Center.
In earlier years, Harry was a skilled Concrete Finisher and later retired from Phillips Furniture, in Kirkwood, after 20 Years as a Truck Driver and Warehouseman.
Harry enjoyed Stock Car Racing as a young man, along with restoring his Willys Jeep, later he liked to Fish a lot, but was especially fond of Deer Hunting with his Daughter Deborah at Owensville and Desoto. He was an avid Hunter and was nicknamed “One Shot Harry” because of his keen aim with his 30.06 Rifle, and has many antler racks to prove it. If there was a Deer in sight, he always got it.
Harry was preceded in death by his Wife, Gloria Jean Thurmond (Dinkins) Dec 10,  Brothers, Ray Thurmond, Ed Thurmond. Infant Sister Laura. Mother Mary Thurmond (Liczynerski). Father Fred James Thurmond.
Harry is survived by his : Daughter Deborah A. Van Meter & (Ray) (Villa Ridge), and Laura L. Smith (Pacific),
Sons: Harry W. Thurmond (House Springs), and Keith J. Thurmond & (Karin) (Germany).
Brother: Walter Thurmond & (Delores) (Arnold).
Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, In-Laws and Friends.
Harry’s wishes were to have no services, and he donated his remains to the Washington University School of Medicine for research, which was his contribution to helping others.
 
Harry’s family wish to extend a special THANKS to Pacific Care Center, and all of the staff who helped Harry as a resident there.
Everyone was kind and helpful, and we didn’t get to know all the names, but we wish to mention some of the people that we became quite fond of.
Tavia Krueger, Ashley Walling, Amy Burgman, Angel Stessen, Sandra Roberts, Lynn Goodman, Zoe Ritchey, Pat Bauer. Also Cassie and Helen for your skilled nursing care.
Everyone there treated Harry like a family member, and he was grateful, we too, want express our deep gratitude.
