Shirley Jenette (Ober) Hess , 93, a resident of Friendship Village South in St. Louis, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011.

She was born Dec 5, 1918, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Robert F and Lena (Seibel) Ober. She was the wife of Arthur Carl Hess who preceeded her in death..

Shirley was a longtime volunteer at the St. Louis Visitors Center and the Salvation Army.  She was a member of the Afton Christian Church. The family also ran Hess Hardware in South St. Louis for many years.

Survivors include her son Robert, his wife Beverly and their daughter Eryn;.   Karen Klingler (Niece) and husband James of St. Louis; Roberta (Niece) Van Dyke and husband Ron of Tucson, AZ and their children & grandchildren.  John Klingler (Great-Nephew), his wife Sara and their children Evan and Claire of Fenton; Jessica Cissell (Great-Niece) and husband Brian Cissell.

A service will be held at the New St. Marcus Mausoleum 7901 Gravois Road at 3 p.m. Monday Dec. 19.
