John Albert Taylor was born September 8, 1926 in Brownsville, TN to Nathaniel and Carrie Taylor, who preceded him in death.  He was the second oldest of eight children.  A sister, Marion Revels, and two brothers James, and Joe Louis Taylor preceded him in death.  At an early age he was baptized.
 
John served in the U S Navy for two years and 6 months.  He married Julia Boyd, who preceded him in death in 1987.  This union was blessed with six caring children; Gwendolyn Griffin-Sanders( who preceded him in death), Deborah Young (Michael), Jacquelyn Whitney(Carl), Gregory Taylor, Stanley Taylor( who preceded him in death) , and Darryl Taylor.
 
John departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 after an extended illness, with his family by his side.
 
He leaves to mourn his passing  his children, three sisters: Katie Johnson, Ruby Davis and Doris Smith; one brother: Robert Taylor, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws: Eva Butler, Malinda Ware and Rhonda Taylor; two brother-in-laws: John D. Boyd and Arthur Smith; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

        And a cure was not to be,
      So He put His arms around you
         And whispered " Come to Me."
        With tearful eyes we watched you,
             And saw you pass away.
          Although we loved you dearly,
           We could not make you stay.
          A golden heart stopped beating,
       And hard working hands at rest.
       God broke our hearts to prove to us,
               He only takes the best.
