Anne Elizabeth Abernathy (née Brown) passed away on January 8th, 2026 at Mercy Hospital St. Louis at the age of 87.  She was born in Anniston, AL on October 6, 1938.

Anne was a graduate of Fisk University and an educator for 40 years.  She was a member of the Lads  & Lassies club.  She was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

Anne will be lovingly remembered by her son, Philip Brown (Shan); daughter, Kelly Coates (Jay); grandchildren, Jay, David, Genesis, Malachi, Daniel Coates; and sisters, Marie Greene (Bailey), Barbara Mahone (deceased), and Paula Mahone.

She is predeceased by Earnest Brown, and Dr. Lionel and Annie Mahone.

Services will be held at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis MO 63135 on January 22, 2026 at 10am.
