James “Jim” Herz died on February 9, 2026 at Towne Plaza at Evertrue Meramec Bluffs where he received loving care.

Jim was born on May 5, 1948 in New York City to John and Elise Herz; who proceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Jane, and his stepson Pete (Christina) of Smryna, TN and son Robert (Amanda) of Shrewsbury, and two grandchildren, Leo and Evelyn.

He is also survived by his brothers, Andy, of Purchase, NY, and Bill (Gwen), of Riverside, CT. He also had many much-loved nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, his body was donated to St.Louis University School of Medicine.

A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on March 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Peace UCC at Wehrli Chapel on the campus of Eden Seminary in Webster Groves, MO. Please wear bright colors to reflect Jim’s love of life.
