Jamie (James) F. Devlin, Jr.
Jamie (James) F. Devlin, Jr., age 63, loving husband of Devon and father to Camille, passed away suddenly January 29, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born June 15, 1962 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Jim and Joyce Devlin.
Jamie was a man of many lives and interests. He worked alongside his mother with preschool students, drove an elderly-assist van, served as a math instructor for Kumon, and did landscaping work in his younger years. Jamie was a Cellar Master in Napa wineries and his knowledge of wine served his friends well long beyond his work there. Jamie became a teacher in 2003. He worked with Special School District students before moving to a long career as an elementary teacher with Webster Groves School District. Jamie was a caring, patient, and thoughtful teacher who connected with his students and created a comfortable yet engaging learning environment where all students felt welcome and seen. In his last year of teaching, Jamie began teaching middle school science at Immacolata School. He took on this new challenge even as his health failed, and he made a positive lasting mark on the students during his short tenure. Outside of work, Jamie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed golf, baseball games, horse races (Kentucky Derby), gardening, assembling puzzles, and quoting movie lines (“Lighten up Francis!”, “You’re Killing Me Smalls!”)
In addition to his wife and daughter, Jamie is survived by his sisters, Beth, of Colorado, and Kaki, of Springfield, MO, and brother, Patrick, of Webster Groves, MO, three brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, along with many other family, friends, and former students who will sadly miss him.
Services for Jamie will include a Memorial Mass at Immacolata Church in Richmond Heights, MO on Saturday, March 7 at 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will follow in the school gymnasium after the service.
