Nancy Hunter Stone, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. She was born on March 27, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Catherine and Hinkle Statler.
Nancy dedicated her life to education and to raising her beloved family. She was a proud graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Teaching was not only her profession but also her passion, and she touched many lives throughout her years as an educator.
Nancy found joy in the simple things she loved most—working crossword puzzles, listening to music, spending time with her dogs, and, above all, being with her family and friends. Her kindness, warmth, and devotion to those she loved will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Bill Yaeger and Rob Yaeger; her granddaughter, Natalie Marie Yaeger; her daughter-in-law, Amy Poole-Yaeger; her sister, Martha Thompson; and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
A private family ceremony will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Remembrance Gathering from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63103. Guests are encouraged to dress casually.
