
Chester John Ball Jr.
Chester John Ball Jr., born May 21st, 1932, passed away peacefully at 11:00 p.m. on Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026, in the loving care of his family.
John graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School and was raised in South City Saint Louis. John was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sharon Ann Ball (nee Kroupa), his brother David Ball, his father Chester John Ball, Sr., and his mother Verbena Emma Meister.
John is survived by his sister Rose Fitzpatrick, as well as his children and their spouses, including Larry Ball and Cathy, parents of Michael Ball (wife Meghan), and Kristin Eves (husband Tyler). David Ball and Martha, parents of Jessica Ball (wife Camella), Danielle Ball (deceased), Lindsay Ball Belmore (husband Scott), and Lisa Ball (deceased). Kevin Ball and Sarah, parents of Rebecca Pierce (husband Nathan), Jessica King, Alec Ball, and Ashlyn Shaw (husband Joshua). In addition, John was an active and loving grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 12 and a great-great grandfather of 4.
John and Sharon resided in Affton, St Louis County as active members of Seven Holy Founders Parish and served the parish community throughout their 64 year marriage. John and Sharon provided an open home and open arms to their children and grandchildren. John will be remembered fondly for his active involvement at the VA of Jefferson Barracks as well as his love of vintage cars.
Following high school John was enlisted and served in the Korean War, from November 1952 through October 1954. He continued in the Army Reserves Missouri through November 1960. John had a full career at Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery, retiring after 41 years as a Technical Services Manager, supplemented with additional employment at the USPS.
John was preceded in death by many close friends with whom he and Sharon shared many evenings at club, playing cards and traveling together. His final years were spent at Nazareth Senior Living Center where many friends from grade school, high school, and work also resided, maintaining lifelong connections. His most treasured role was Grandpa and Great Grandpa, nothing made him happier than to be with his grandchildren and their young families.
John was a sentimental loving family man at heart. He showed so many how to love and care through his actions and deeds and will be missed and not forgotten for his kindnesses.
A family graveside service for both John and Sharon will be scheduled later at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Saint Louis, MO.
