Diane Tilton Bell

Diane Tilton Bell (1955–2026)

Diane Bell passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 44 years, Charles Bell; her daughter, Lauren (Jim) Beecher, and their children, Lydia and Nolan; her son, Garrett (Katie) Bell; and her sister, Susan (Dan) Busse. She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathan Bell, and her parents, Charlene and James Bynum.

Diane met Charles while studying at the Washington University School of Architecture. After graduating, they married, raised their family, and established an architectural practice. Diane balanced her professional career with raising her children in their Webster Groves home, remaining deeply engaged in church life — all with grace, energy, and determination.

A natural multi-tasker, Diane enjoyed reading, baking, and staying in touch through thoughtful cards, letters, texts, and emails. She treasured her friendships, delighted in flowers, kept up with current events, and was an enthusiastic fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was active in PEO, participated in a book club, and served on several committees. With a love for urban exploration, Diane enjoyed discovering architecture, parks, museums, galleries, and outdoor concerts — passions she shared with Charles and passed along to their children.

She will be remembered for her progressive spirit and the genuine warmth she extended to friends and her community. A devoted life-long member of Westminster Presbyterian Church until its merger with Trinity Presbyterian two years ago, Diane found joy in ringing in the bell choir and gave her time faithfully to Trinity’s food bank.

A memorial service celebrating Diane’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 6800 Washington Avenue, 63130. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church (memo Winger Food Pantry) or to the American Cancer Society.

Diane was a force through her thoughtful dedication and commitment to the things she most valued. I was in the bell ringers with her and others at Westminster Presbyterian when Union Avenue Christian Church was invited to join. What a delight to make music with new friends! I believe I recall her parents had donated the bells years ago. My sympathies to her family and all those who loved and respected her for the life she lived.
