
Brenton Tinkey
Brenton Louis Tinkey age 38 of Benton, IL passed away on April 30th, 2026 in St. Louis Missouri. He suffered a massive stroke 5 days earlier.
He was born March 15th, 1988 in Dowagiac, MI. His parents were Robert and Teresa (Leonard) Tinkey. He was welcomed to the family by his older sister Candace and his older brother Brock.
He was a son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, great uncle, friend, and a hero to his family. He is survived by his mother Teresa Ferando (Joe Gaideski) of Benton, IL, sister Candace Younger (Aaron Shockley) of Benton, IL. brother Brock (Amber) Tinkey of Dowagiac, MI, brother Greg Younger of Benton, IL, his aunts Cindy (Larry) Raymond, of Lawton, MI, Cathy Tinkey of Menomonie, WI, Lisa (Mike) Skroch of Bloomfield, NE and uncle Chris Tinkey of Menomonie, WI; nephews Ashton (Talia) Younger of Harrisburg, IL, Mason (Marissa) Younger of Benton, IL, Niece Brooklynn Younger of Benton, IL, nephews Dylan and Zachary Tinkey of Portage, MI, great nieces Evelynn and Willow Younger of Harrisburg, IL, 8 cousins, great aunts and uncles, and many friends.
Brenton was a quiet, gentle, loving person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, family was very important to him. He had a special bond with each and every member of the family. Brenton had many nicknames, Brent, Wolfie, and Brenton Denton. His younger years were filled with happy smiling faces, he was mischievous and adventurous. Where you saw 2 child you found the other 2 siblings close behind. Hours were spent outside playing, riding bikes, fishing, swimming, and camping.
In March of 2012, tragedy struck the family by the loss of their Dad. Candy, Brock, and Brenton had to make the toughest decision in the lives to disconnect their dad from life support. Brenton felt that loss everyday.
In his adult life Brenton was a man of few words, family was always important. He always made time for his niece, nephews, and great nieces.
He is preceded in death by hid Dad Bob Tinkey, maternal grandparents Charlotte and Fred Leonard, paternal grandparents Robert and Sylvia Tinkey, uncles Gret Leonard and Richard Tinkey, friend Randy Ridenour, great aunts, uncles, and others.
Brenton is a hero to his family because he made the decision after his Dad’s passing to become an organ donor. His decision was a surprose to many of his family, but it spoke voumes to who he was!!!! It bring great comfort that he lives on. May his donations bless those recipients.
For the last 6 years, he worked for JTA/FedEx, serving the Mt. Vernon area. He and Greg would often go out of state to set up satellite branches of JTA/FedEx.
A celebration of Life will be held on May 23rd, 2026, at the Boneyard Bar in Benton, IL, starting at 5:00 PM.
