
Carolyn M. Votruba-Mueller
Carolyn Marie Votruba Mueller, lovingly known as “Wawa,” passed away peacefully, surrounded
by the love of her family.
She was born on January 12, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Bernice Metzner Votruba
and Charles Votruba.
Carolyn was united in marriage to, James Mueller, on December 10, 1988. Together they built a
life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valley Park, Missouri.
Carolyn spent most of her life in Fenton, Missouri, where she created a warm and welcoming
home for her family. She was a loving mother and proud “Wawa” to her grandchildren, who were
truly the center of her world.
She is survived by her Husband James Mueller, her children, Julie Colombo (Fenton, Missouri),
and Angela Thomas (Fenton, Missouri); and her beloved grandchildren, Evan Clinton, Elizabeth
“Libby” Hall, Alec “Butter” Clinton, Annabell “Bella” Thomas, and Zoe Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Charles Votruba; and her sons, Joseph
Henry Colombo III (1970) and Nicholas Charles Colombo (2016).
Carolyn found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially at their second home
at the Lake of the Ozarks, where laughter and togetherness filled every moment. She loved
having a full house and was known for her unintentional humor that always kept everyone
laughing. She had a deep love for cruising with her husband Jim and never missed a good sale.
Carolyn will be remembered as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, Wawa, and friend. Her love for
her family was unmatched, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering
devotion.
She is now reunited in heaven with her parents and her two sons.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on May 16 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at her
daughter’s home.
