John Robert “Rob” Saputo

December 23, 1978 – April 14, 2026

John Robert “Rob” Saputo, age 47, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2026.

Rob was born on December 23, 1978, in Saint Louis and grew up in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was defined by a quiet strength and an unwavering reliability. A man of exceptional work ethic, Rob rarely missed a day on the job, but his true calling was helping those around him. Whether it was stopping to change a stranger’s flat tire or stepping up for a friend in a pinch, helping people came naturally to him. He never asked for recognition; he simply showed up.

An avid outdoorsman, Rob was most at peace near the water. He spent his happiest hours fishing, kayaking, and immersing himself in the quiet of nature. He possessed a curious, brilliant mind and a talent for working with his hands. Whether he was diving into a science book, reading, or figuring out the inner workings of a machine to bring an idea to life, he was a lifelong learner who appreciated the “how” and “why” of the world.

Above all, Rob cared immensely for his people and his animals. He showed his love through action and a steady, dependable presence that his family and lifelong friends will forever cherish.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Saputo; his mother, Barbara Jean Hill; his stepfather, Steve Hill; and his half-brother, Matthew Stogsdill.

He is survived by his stepmother, Willie Saputo; his stepfathers, Kenny Pace and Kenneth Pace; his sister, Danelle Saputo; his half-sisters, Jennifer and Giana Saputo; his half-brother, Ian Saputo; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a close-knit circle of lifelong friends who were his chosen family.
