Jerry Brocksmith

Jerome Anthony “Jerry” “Homer” Brocksmith, 66, of Missouri, passed away on May 14th, 2026, and true to form, has taken on the role of Mayor of Heaven.

He is survived by the love of his life, Penny (nee Martin) Brocksmith; his brothers, Jim (Debby) Brocksmith and John (Linda) Brocksmith; his stepdaughters, Alison Hennessy and Tricia Powell (Zach); and his beloved granddaughters, Kylie Elrod, Kyndall Turberville, and Maddie Elrod, affectionately known by Jerry as “Bob 1,” “Bob 2,” and ‘Bob 3.”  He also leaves behind nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish the laughter he brought into their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Antoinette (nee Pott) Brocksmith and his brother Joseph A. Brocksmith.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Jerry was known for his quick wit, unforgettable stories, and the ability to make everyone around him laugh.  A retired Union Painter, he worked hard throughout his life and was proud of the friendships and memories he made along the way.

Jerry’s greatest joy was his family.  He loved the outdoors tending to his tropical plants.  He loved being with his brother Joe and nephew Joey and hunting friends at Deer Camp.  He loved beach vacations in the Caribbean with Penny and always made new friends in far-away places.

Whether he was telling stories – or ‘lies,’ as he like to call them –joking around with family, or happily serving as the makeup model for his granddaughters, Jerry made every event gathering brighter.  The best moments with him were filled with teasing, laughter, and love.

Jerry never met a stranger and could turn any ordinary moment into a memory worth retelling.  His sense of humor, playful spirit, and love for making people smile will forever be remembered by everyone lucky enough to know him.  Family and friend gatherings will never be quite the same without his laughter and stories filling the room.

Jerry loved telling people that he had a party every weekend but didn’t invite anyone other than Penny.  He also always reminded everyone that he was cooler than Santa Claus –something his family will never forget hearing him say with a smile.

Jerry will be deeply missed for his humor, his big heart, and the countless memories he gave to those who loved him.  His stories will live on around family tables for years to come.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
