
Robert “Bob” Moon
Robert “Bob” Moon, age 60, of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026. Born on November 12, 1965, in Waukegan, Illinois, Bob grew up in the Zion and Joliet areas.
After high school, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated several years as a police officer in New Lenox, Illinois, where he received numerous commendations and went on to complete his Master’s degree. Bob’s passion for service and education led him to a long career with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) as a dedicated educator and expert marksman. He ultimately concluded his professional career serving fellow veterans at the VA.
Outside of his career, Bob was a lifelong, avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He cherished every moment spent with his family and his beloved boxer dogs. Known for his kind heart and great sense of humor, Bob left a lasting, unforgettable impression on everyone he met.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Madge Moon. He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Kidd; his daughter, Caitlyn Moon; his sisters, Lori Toth and Shannon Ahern; and a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services:
Graveside Service: Monday, June 1, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
Visitation & Celebration of Life: Monday, June 1, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM at The Pavilion at Lemay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to Boxer Paws Rescue.
