I first became acquainted with Butch (Charles Lanham) about 59 years ago when he lived on Dodier St. in N. St. Louis. The way we became acquainted was he’d sit in and played drums while a few of the guys in the neighborhood were learning to play guitar. I was probably 16 at the time making him about 14. He was always volunteering to help whether it was putting a new roof on my house or a major repair on the car. He was a pretty handy fellow to know. After we both retired we’d both be on the phone for hours at a time reminiscing about the past or discussing current events. My thoughts keep drifting towards him, I last talked to him on the phone three days ago, it doesn’t seem possible that he’s gone. I miss him.
