
Clement Edward Hart

Clement “Edward” Hart, age 88, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, Missouri.
He was born Monday, May 2, 1938, in Charleston, Missouri, the son of the late Clem and Lucille Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Hart and Johnny Hart; and one sister, Betty Coffer.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Jane Hart. They were married on June 18, 1960, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Charleston, Missouri. He is also survived by one daughter, Laurie Grojean (Richard) of Chesterfield, Missouri, and her children Justin Grojean (Amy), Alexander Grojean (Stacie), Andrea Ogle (Andrew), and Blake Grojean (Jessica); one son, Stacey Edward Hart (Stephanie) of Creve Coeur, Missouri, and his children Dr. Abigail Hart, Dr. Hannah Hart, and Olivia Hart; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa Grojean, Ben Grojean, Henry Ogle, Thomas Ogle, Charlie Ogle, Scarlett Grojean, and Eleanor Grojean; three brothers, Mike Hart, Mark Hart, and Roy Hart; three sisters, Anna Dougherty, Debbie Hart, and Marcia Leffler; along with many other family and friends who will remember his quick wit and memorable one-liners. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family and following the St. Louis Cardinals.
Edward built a long and respected career in the grocery business, beginning as a bag boy and working his way up to store manager at Del Farm in Charleston, Missouri. He later served as store manager for Del Farm in Granite City, Illinois, and then in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He went on to become a consultant for Wetterau and later SuperValu.
Edward gave generously of his time to his community. He was a founding member of the Notre Dame Regional High School Educational Fund Foundation and served as president of the Booster Club at Notre Dame Regional High School. He also served as president of the Senior Citizens Center in Jackson, Missouri, and on the Cape Girardeau Board of Adjustment.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1913 Ritter Dr., Cape Girardeau, Missouri, with Father Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Edward had been a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish since 1974.
Friends may visit after 9 a.m. until the service hour Friday, July 24, 2026, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Building Fund.
