
Michael King
Michael “Mike” King, age 71, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, from pneumonia and sepsis. He was born on July 21, 1955, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Mike graduated from high school with honors and proudly put himself through college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He was a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity and remained a dedicated brother to his lifelong friends across all pledge classes. Following college, Mike enjoyed an extensive career as a civil engineer. He maintained his Professional Engineering license for many years and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2015.
Known for his quick-witted humor, Mike had a passion for vintage Volkswagen Beetles and loved both playing and watching sports of all kinds.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. King, and his mother, Shirley Hill (née Schwaab).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Nancy Wilson-King; his son, Brett King, and daughter-in-law, Katie King; his grandson, Wyatt King; his sister, Debra King; and his nephew, Jack Perry.

Memorial Service: A memorial service will be held on October 24, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM at the Wildey Theatre Chandelier Room (3rd Floor), located at 252 N. Main St., Edwardsville, IL.(opens in new tab)
Memorial Donations: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society(opens in new tab) or Impact CIL of Alton.(opens in new tab)

The memorial service will be followed by dinner and time to share remembrances of Mike.
