Douglas Hicks
Douglas “Bob” Hicks, age 77, of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026.
Born on March 12, 1949, Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971, achieving the rank of Specialist (SP4). During his service, he trained personnel who would go on to serve in Vietnam—a period of his life he held dear and carried with him always.
On November 5, 1995, Bob married the love of his life, Bobbie. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, and cherished memories. Known for his unique sense of humor, Bob was always ready with a joke to bring a smile to those around him. He loved spending time outdoors, especially on the river at the gravel bar and at their lake property, as well as working on and riding his dune buggy. Above all, Bob was someone his family and friends could always count on—always just a phone call away and ready to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bobbie Hicks; his children: Douglas “Bobby” Hicks Jr. and wife Kelly, Christen (Hicks) Zierenberg and husband Adam, and Holly (Hicks) Kestermont and husband Joe; and his cherished grandchildren: Jensen, Jarett, Emsley, Ella, Luke, Joey, Hanna, Lucas, and Dylan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward Hicks and Kathryn Juanita Bausch.
