In Loving Memory of Charles David Richards

Charles David Richards, age 82, passed away on September 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved him beyond measure.

For 28 years, Charles shared his life with his beloved wife, Patricia Richards.

Charles is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Tinker, and his children, Brenda (Phillip) Treis, Barbara (Robert) Richards, and Scott (Jessie) Richards.

One of Charles’s greatest joys in life was his family. He was a cherished grandpa to Michael (Nicola), Matthew, Stephen, Colten, Keely (Brandon), Charlie, and Jacob, and a beloved great-grandpa to Layla and Josie. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought tremendous happiness to his life, and the memories they shared with him will be treasured for generations to come.

Charles was also surrounded by the love of his extended family: Bonnie, Becky, John, Starr, Jack, Nickolas, Nathan, Noah, Nina, Brandy, and Brad.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Nadine Rogers, and his brother, Larry Curtis Tinker.

Charles graduated from Roosevelt High School with the Class of 1963. He went on to dedicate many years of hard work to Chrysler before retiring in 2012. Retirement gave Charles more time to enjoy the things that made him happiest, especially continuing his collection of antique toys and watching movies. His collection was more than a hobby—it reflected his appreciation for nostalgia, memories, and the simple things in life that brought joy.

Charles also had a special love for Popeye the Sailor Man and his famous saying, “I Yam What I Yam.”In many ways, those words perfectly captured Charles—a man who was unapologetically himself and lived life in his own unique way.

Charles Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Herculaneum-Pevely on September 19th at 1:00 pm and Service will begin at 2:00 pm. Charles burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, on September 20th at 1:00 pm.
