Alys Kliewer Simon, age 79, of Bridgeton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026. Born on February 24, 1947, in Ogden, Utah, Alys lived a life marked by kindness, determination, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family.

Though she touched many lives through her career, friendships, volunteer work, and community involvement, her greatest joy was always her family. She was, first and foremost, a devoted wife, mother, and Nana. Her husband, Dave; her daughters, Renae and Lynda; their families; and her grandchildren were the center of her world. She was always ready with encouragement, a helping hand, or simply her steady presence whenever she was needed. Nothing mattered more to her than the happiness and well-being of those she loved, and anyone who knew her understood they could count on her unwavering support and generous heart.

Professionally, Alys enjoyed a successful career as a computer programmer. Known for her intelligence, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, she earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. She embraced the challenges of a rapidly changing field and brought both technical expertise and genuine warmth to her work.

Outside of her career, Alys loved staying active and engaged. She enjoyed playing tennis, spending time with friends, volunteering in elementary classrooms, and nurturing her beautiful gardens. She found joy in helping others—whether through volunteering, sharing her knowledge, or lending a hand to family and friends. Her patience, generosity, and caring spirit made a lasting impact on those around her.

Alys had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. Her warmth, easygoing nature, and genuine interest in others helped her form deep and lasting relationships throughout her life. Whether meeting someone for the first time or knowing them for years, she had a special way of making people feel seen, appreciated, and cared for.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Dave Simon; her loving daughters, Renae Achter (Bob) and Lynda Jan (Scott Merz); her cherished grandchildren, Preston Achter, TJ Walker, and Nathan Walker; her beloved stepdaughters, Jackie Aslan (Jimmy), Courtney Piper (TJ), and Lauren Beech, and their families; her cherished step-grandchildren; and her siblings, Jeff Braithwaite (Karen), Claudia Price (Roger), and Garth Braithwaite (Karlyn), along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Alys was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mozelle Braithwaite, and her stepdaughter, Sarah Morris, who left us far too soon.

Alys will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength of character, and her joyful spirit. The love she shared, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Alys’s life will be announced and held at a later date. Family and friends will be invited to join in remembering and honoring her. Details will be shared when arrangements are finalized.
