St. Louis Cremation’s “I Just Want Cremation” package is $1,495 for a direct cremation without a ceremony. It includes:

• Pickup and transportation from the place of death within 25 miles of the nearest St. Louis Cremation location.
• Administrative services and necessary paperwork, including filing the death certificate and notifying Social Security.
• Refrigeration, a cremation container, and the cremation.
• A basic urn for the cremated remains and an online obituary.

Additional costs may apply for transportation beyond the included area, certified death certificate copies, government fees, or special paperwork. 1. Where is the crematory, and who performs the cremation? Ask whether the provider uses its own facility and staff or another company. St. Louis Cremation performs its own cremations at the Downtown St. Louis crematory listed above. Your loved one remains in our care through the cremation process.
2. Are funeral directors paid sales commissions? Our funeral directors are not paid commissions on sales. Their compensation does not increase when you choose additional merchandise or services.
3. Is the quoted price the complete cost for my circumstances? Request an itemized total, including any required charges and the options you select. Our direct cremation package and its inclusions are explained in the cost answer above. Our General Price List also identifies additional services and charges, so ask which apply to your arrangements.

Whole-body donation for medical education may be an option. Our body donation options include the National Body Donor Program, listed at $0, and university donation arrangements listed at $865. Participating medical schools in the National Body Donor Program provide cremation following donation.

Costs depend on the program and your circumstances. The National Body Donor Program explains that transportation or paperwork charges may apply; memorial services and other optional tributes are separate. We can help coordinate certified death certificate copies during the arrangement process. Tell us how many you expect to need and ask about the cost. Filing the death certificate is included in direct cremation; certified copies are separate unless included in your selected package.

For a death registered in Missouri, eligible applicants can also request copies through a local public health agency or the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Missouri currently charges $14 for the first certified copy and $11 for each additional copy of the same death record ordered at the same time. Additional charges apply when using VitalChek. Check the current state fee schedule when ordering.

Before ordering, make a list of the organizations you will contact. Ask each whether it needs a certified copy, whether a photocopy is acceptable, and whether it will return the certificate. This can help you estimate how many copies to request.

Yes. We offer a Cremation with Memorial Service package that includes use of a chapel for a memorial service. Our team can discuss the available arrangements and help you choose an approach that fits your family.

A gathering can include favorite music, photographs, readings, or time for family and friends to share memories. You may also choose to organize a remembrance at a place of worship, a family home, or another venue. If you want the urn present, please coordinate the date with us first.

Our cremation packages include an online obituary. Use our obituary submission form to provide details about your loved one, family members, service arrangements, and suggested memorial contributions. The form also allows you to upload photographs.

Depending on the cemetery, an urn may be buried in a cremation plot or placed in a columbarium niche, a dedicated space for an urn. These options can provide a permanent place for family and friends to visit.

Before purchasing an urn, confirm the cemetery's requirements. Some require an urn vault for burial or specify acceptable materials. For a niche, check its interior dimensions and the urn's exterior measurements. Ask the cemetery about placement fees, memorial options, and any other requirements.

Scattering can be an option, but the location matters. Obtain the property owner's permission before scattering on private property. For parks, public land, lakes, or rivers, check with the responsible authority about applicable rules and permits before making plans.

For ocean scattering under the federal burial-at-sea permit, cremated remains must be released at least three nautical miles from land, and the burial must be reported to the EPA within 30 days. Review the EPA's burial-at-sea requirements for the full conditions. These ocean rules do not establish permission to scatter in inland waters.
