Jacqueline Platt Aherron
Jacqueline Platt Aherron, 83, passed away peacefully on September 15, surrounded by
family. She was born on May 11, 1943, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, to Earl and
Mildred Platt. Jackie married Carlton Thomas Aherron in 1963. They had two sons,
Thomas and Neal, before Carlton’s passing in 1974.
Jackie devoted her life to raising her sons and caring for her family. She created a
warm, welcoming home where there was always a homemade meal and a delicious
dessert. She loved cooking and had a passion for collectibles. She especially enjoyed
attending estate sales and garage sales, always looking for a “whale of a deal” and
searching for keepsakes for friends and family. She met many lifelong friends while
working for AJF Leasing, which later became XTRA Lease.
Jackie is survived by her sons, Thomas and Neal (Kathy); her brother, Vernon (Vicki);
and her treasured granddaughters, Aly (Gustav) and Abby. She was preceded in death
by her parents, her spouse and her brother, Dewitt (Grace).
A private graveside burial will be forthcoming. A celebration of life will be held on
September 27 at Helen Fitzgerald’s from 5 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Brain Injury Association of Missouri.
Jackie and my mom both worked at AJF/Extra and were very close friends. They talked/texted almost every day and Jackie was a great friend to my mom who passed away in January. We lived two streets away from Jackie when I was in high school, and I have fond memories of eating dinner at Jackie’s house and my mom and Jackie laughing and telling stories.
Jackie was the first person I met when I enter the offices of AJF Leasing in 1985 for my job interview. Her smiling face was the first impression I received from a great company. Jackie and I worked together for over 25 years and it was a pure joy to work with someone so sweet and energetic. I always remember her walking in on Wednesday mornings and telling me about what she found at those yard sales. We stayed in touch through FB for all these years since her retirement. I will miss the Happy Birthdays from her each year and her always asking how my family was doing. My prayer is for Peace for her family and loved ones as they struggle through these tough days and weeks. But know there is one more shining star in the sky and a sweet angel sitting with her Lord in Heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss but I can tell you this. She sure raised a good son and you neil you’re a great person and it has to come from your mom and your dad. It’s always been my pleasure ever dealing with you and working with you, may God carry her to heaven. My prayers are with you and your family in these hard times thank God bless you and your family to have a strength to continue on with fun memories of your mother. I love you, buddy.
