Marjorie E. Richter

Margie Richter, age 73, of Creve Coeur, MO, passed away on October 20, 2026 after her  recent battle with lung cancer.

Born on August 23, 1953 in St. Louis, MO to the late Alfred G. and Olivia Holton Richter, she  was the third of four children and was preceded in death by her younger brother Carl.  Margie is survived by her brother Alfred G. Richter Jr. (Liz) and Mary O. Kortum (Dan), as well  as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Some of Margie’s fondest memories were  spending summers and weekends at the family farm in St. Clair, MO with her family and  cousins. It was there that Margie learned her love of horses. One of her not so fond  memories was when she was bitten by a copperhead snake at age 11 and ended up in  hospital for over a week.

Margie graduated from Xavier High School in 1971 and went on to get an Accounting Degree  from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 1978. She later added an MBA from University of  Illinois-Springfield and a CPA. Margie spent virtually her entire business career working in  Accounting with Peabody Energy, later Patriot Coal, as Controller at various mines in  Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky. She retired in 2012 after 34 years and returned  to St. Louis. Always outgoing and generous, Margie made lifelong friends at each work  location. Those friends stayed in touch and visited with her up to the very end.

Margie also volunteered her time selflessly. She volunteered for years with the Creve Coeur  City Council and the Planning and Zoning Board, only giving that up recently when her  cancer progressed. Margie was an avid card player and enjoyed gin rummy and bridge  particularly. She will be greatly missed by all whoever had the privilege of crossing her  path.

Funeral arrangements are private.
