Carole Jean Fitzgerald, age 85, of Arnold, Missouri, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 2, 2026. Born in Saint Louis on Christmas Day, December 25, 1940, Carole brought warmth and creativity into the lives of everyone around her.

A talented seamstress and avid photographer, Carole had a special way of showing her love through standard and creative acts alike. She crafted beautiful clothing and memorable Halloween costumes, captured countless family celebrations, and lovingly preserved photographs and keepsakes for generations to cherish.

Carole came into Patricia’s life when Patricia was just four years old, becoming a devoted mother and a constant presence throughout her life. She also welcomed Patricia’s lifelong best friend, Beckie Price, into her heart, affectionately referring to the pair as her “daughter and a half.”

Carole was a cherished grandmother to Patrick, Stephen, and Andrew, and lovingly embraced their families, including Iris, Sadie, and her great-grandchildren, Cayde, Scarlett, and Meena. She also treasured her church family at the United Methodist Church, where faith, friendship, and fellowship brought her great joy.

Carole is survived by her daughter, Patricia Fitzgerald; her grandchildren, Patrick Schaefer III, Stephen Schaefer, and Andrew (Iris) Schaefer; her extended family including Beckie Price, Sadie, Cayde, Scarlett, and Meena; as well as many beloved friends.

In keeping with Carole’s wishes, her family will honor her memory privately.
