Stephen Robert Sweney
Sweney, Stephen Robert Aug. 8, 1992 – Sept. 6, 2013. Beloved son of Michael and Terri; brother of Christopher; loving grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many. Services: Mass Wed., Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, Webster Groves, MO.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy,
Of friendships shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorry,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Life up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
Terri & Mike and Christopher:
What a tribute to the memory of Stephen!
The poem and pictures are really nice!
We are sorry for your loss, but we understand some of Stephen’s struggles.
Like the poem says, he is free, now.
We hope and pray that you all can move forward.
We really wish we could be there to share with you and your family.
Love,
Mary Fran & Frank
I am sorry for your loss. Never good to hear.
Terri, Mike, and Christorpher….There are no words to describe the heartache you are feeling in the loss of your beloved son. Know that all that love you are praying for you and your family. Hold on to the words that our Father promised : Blessed are they that mourn for they Shall BE Comforted. I love you …..pat
Mike, Terri, and Christopher
We love you and we are so sorry for the loss of Stephen. We are thinking about you and are sorry that we can’t be there to share in his memory. We hope that you will remember all the wonderful things about Stephen for years as we can see in the beautiful pictures you have displayed. Thanks for sharing those.
Your memorial service, this morning, was such a loving and beautiful tribute to Stephen’s life. From the tender words only a parent could say, to Pam’s reflections of warm family times and Eric’s heartfelt music helped us all remember Stephen and his special gifts. We continue to grieve with you all.
