Jeffery Scott Schicker
Jeffery Scott Schicker, age 52, died at his home in the loving presence of his family on October 18, 2013. Loving husband to Rosie, father to Justin and Chad. Dear son of Elmer and Helen Schicker, who both preceded him in death. Brother of James (Sharon) and Terry (Roger). Son in law to Ruth Farabell. Brother in law to Katherine Tossick (Gary) and Patricia Koutsohilis (Mache) and Georgie Farabell (who also preceded Jeff in death). Dear uncle to 18 nieces and nephews, and great uncle to 30 great nieces and great nephews.
Jeff was born on July 31, 1961 to Elmer and Helen Schicker. On September 15, 1984, he married Rosemary Farabell. Jeff and Rosie were blessed with two wonderful boys, Justin Scott (now 23) and Chad Tyler (now 20).
He had a successful 28-year career at Southwestern Bell/AT&T as a highly skilled technician. Before his career, his job experience began at the young age of 13 at Leo Domachowski’s United Variety Store in Marian Heights Plaza.
All who knew Jeff knew a man who lived for others. He was always out helping someone with his infinite handyman skills, or entertaining them with his terrific sense of humor. Jeff loved hanging with friends, playing practical jokes, and travelling. He enjoyed watching the boys play sports, and they were a big part of his life. Occasionally, like most parents, he had to yell at his boys for something (“you know who you are!”)
Here is a letter written by some very dear friends of Jeff that sums up quite well how all of us felt about him:
We are so very sorry for your loss. We know Jeff is in a better place and will be watching down from heaven over us all! He was a man like no other man we have ever known. He was kind, gentle, loving, witty, and a man of many talents. Tony told me recently that Jeff was the greatest man he has ever had the privilege of knowing and he was a great inspiration to him.
Jeff was a perfect example of how the rest of us should live our lives. We all knew Jeff as a person who never had an unkind word to say about anyone, he always found good in everyone he met. Jeff left this earth showing the rest of us how to be courageous even in the darkest of days.
Jeff will be greatly missed by all who had had the privilege of knowing him, and for those who didn’t know him, they missed out on knowing one of the best human beings God created. Jeff was truly one of a kind! God Bless you Rosie, Justin, and Chad as your hearts begin to heal!
Sincerely and with much love,
Tony, Kim, Marisa, Rachel, and Samuel Indelicato
Without a doubt, everyone who was blessed to know Jeff has his or her own special, wonderful memories about how he touched their lives.
It was Jeff wishes that there be no funeral services. The family is planning a Celebration of Jeff’s Life Party that will be scheduled in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jeff’s name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
