Donald Paul
DONALD L. PAUL (10/21/43 to 11/12/2013) of Hollister, MO, formerly of Perry, KS.
Don went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. due to complications of infection.
He was a strong courageous man, having struggled with Crohn’s disease for over 26 years. Don served in the U. S. Air Force during the Viet Nam Conflict and was very patriotic, loving God and Country.
Don and Sandie (Shimek) were married 50 years on November 9, 2013. They grew up together having married at a young age, and anyone who knew them, knows they were almost inseparable.
Don loved to do anything that involved thought and planning, a woodworking project, electrical, he could fix anything broken, loved to cook, smoke meats, and he and Sandie often made Cherry jam and sweet jalapeno pepper slices to share with friends and family. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cryptoquotes, he had a great mind and used it.
Don was a long time member of the National Rifle Association and American Legion Post #142.
Don retired from Security Benefit Group, Topeka, Kansas as VP of Information Systems, and spent almost his entire working career in the computer industry.
He is survived by his wife Sandie, younger brother Richard and wife Mary Ann, brother in law Clyde Jacobs and wife Carol, many relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Desmond and Melba Paul. A special thank you to Bill and Marty Rexroat, longtime friends from Oklahoma who made the long journey from Hollister, Mo. to St. Louis, Mo. with Don and Sandie to get the treatment he so badly needed but unsuccessful to be completed.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice or Don would have been proud of anyone thanking a Veteran for their service during your daily travels.
Service are pending at this time.

Dear Sandie, we are all so sorry for your loss. Don was such a wonderful person and will be missed by many. I wanted to share how you two had given Austin the antique toy tractor- It is so special to Austin and his up high in his bedroom. He will always remember Don when he looks at it. A good reminder I think- Thanks for giving him that memory.

Sandy, I will miss don very much, he gave me the gift of Clive cuddled books and loved discussing them! I will continue to have you in my prayers during this tough time. Don was a great friend.
One of the best men I have ever known. He allowed me in 1988 to transfer from Denver to KC sight unseen as a technician with no tech school and 2 months OJT. Don not only gave me a career I love, he likely contributed to saving me life. I am saddened at his lose and will always be grateful for the opportunities he afforded me.
You’re in my prayers Sandie.
I will so miss Don’s cheerful laugh and smile at our family diners. Sandie, God Bless You, for you have been so strong through all of this. Love Daryl & Pat

what words are there for the lost of your true soul mate. My heart hurts so much for the loss of a amazing and increadable man. He hired me at 25 and you both took me under your arms and loved me like a daughter. I am so sorry, time goes by way to fast. I know there are so many angels to show him the ropes and he will be there waiting for you!!
Dear Mrs. Paul, I just learned of Don’s passing and I am saddened by the news. Like Ron, John and Steve, I also worked for Don. He hired me just out of school. Our entire team was just like a big family, at three different locations, Topeka, KC an Wichita. I still remember the day, he hired me. When he left Telex and went to the Insurance company in Topeka, I called to see if they had any openings. He was a great guy and he’ll be missed. I hope to work for him again when I leave this world.
Dear Sandie Paul, family and Bill Rexroat,
I was hired by Don and worked under him in Telex in Topeka, KS. I really liked Don and always thought Don was a very kind and professional Field Manager. I really appreciated being able to work under Don and will always be thankful for the opportunity he gave me and with Bill Rexroat. I apologize for being so late to find out, but wanted to respond and honor him. I look forward to meeting him with the Lord Jesus.
At this writing am nearing 61 years old. May the Lord bless you Don and your wife Sandie.
Sincerely,
Donald Sitler
