Steven Richard Hartmann
Steven Richard Hartmann passed away on August 3, 2014 at the age of 49 years. He cherished his wife Stacey Elizabeth Hartmann, and their children, 13-year-old daughter Andrea, and 10-year-old son Andrew (Drew) – the joys of his life. He is survived by his mother, Roberta (Bobbie) Santangelo, who treasured him; was predeceased by his father, Richard William Hartmann, survived by his stepmother Jean Hartmann who continues to love and care for his family; is also survived by his loving siblings Nancy Parrish (Kent), Linda Hartmann (Stanford Stewart), and Carolyn Hartmann-Simpson, a large extended family, and many friends.
Steve was born and raised in St. Louis County, Missouri. He went to Pattonville High School, and received his Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration with honors at St. Louis University. He worked in information technology, network security, and project management. Steve loved sports and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Rams, and Blues, and a zealous tailgater at these events. For this reason, his Family Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk Team was named “Walking Tailgators.” Steve became the captain of this team and excelled at fundraising for JDRF when his daughter was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes before the age of two years. He was a creative and prolific craftsman, particularly working with wood, building the family dining room table, the pet dog Cally’s crate, an outdoor gazebo and fire pit, among others. He also enjoyed photography. His happiest times were those with his children and family. He will be missed tremendously.
Memorials may be sent to the Steven R. Hartmann Memorial Fund, c/o Eagle Bank and Trust, 1052 South Kirkwood Rd., St. Louis, MO 63122 (or any Eagle Bank and Trust branch).
Visitation will occur on Friday, August 8th from 9 to 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens, 8749 Watson Rd., Webster Groves, MO 63119. A Memorial Service will then take place at the church at 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a luncheon.
Stacey, thanks so much for sending us all of this info even in your time of great loss, you are a very giving person. We will always remember & admire Steve for the courage to ask the Edward Jones Corp. to consider donating to JDRF. Steve was responsible for tens of thousands of dollars going to JDRF, the cause closest to all of our hearts. On a lighter note, I loved talking to Steve about the Cardinals, especially at Andrea’s b-day swimming party in Aug. 2011. But back to JDRF, we owe a lot to Steve & thus, you, for all of his fundraising & will be forever grateful. God bless you & the kids,
Tom & Debbie
Dear Family of Steven Hartmann,
We are saddened to hear of your sudden loss. I will forever remember Steven as a boy when I was in college with Nancy and Linda. I have always admired the love and closeness shared within the family and believe that will comfort all of you in the coming days.
With love and sympathy,
Bonita White and Gary Johnson
Stacy,
We saw on Facebook the loss of your husband. It was so nice to see that he was so involved with Juvenile Diabetes. Our son Blake was diagnosed at 14 with this disease. May you find peace and we are thinking of you and your family.
