Mary Lorraine Alexander
Mrs. Mary Lorraine Alexander was born on February 16, 1924 in Houston Mississippi to Augustus and Rachel Griffin.
Lorraine moved from Mississippi to Chicago then settled in St. Louis, Missouri were she met and married Mr. Alfred P. Alexander in 1963.
Lorraine had many talents. She was a licensed cosmetologist. She worked tirelessly at Barnes Jewish Hospital as a licensed practical nurse for over 16 years, until she decided to retire in 1987 to enter the private duty nursing sector. She accepted Christ at an early age. Her baptism was at Newstead Missionary Baptist Church. Later she became a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church. She was an active member of Medinah Court #15, a Subordinate Court of the Imperial Court and Auxiliary of the A. E.A.O.N.M.S., Inc. She was a Pas Matron in the Order of Eastern Stars a member in good Standings of Liberty Chapter #71.
Lorraine departed this life on February 27th, 2015 surrounded with love of her devoted husband Al. She was cherished by all who know her well and she committed her life to her family and the care of others.
Mary Alexander leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Alfred Alexander; four beautiful daughters; her first was Alice L. Payne who preceded her in death, Rachel Lewis-Powell, Barbara Carrothers-Montgomery and Anngellic Williams-Dinkins.; nine grandchildren who are Ronald Payne, Jr., Michael Payne, Debra Payne-Garner and John Payne, Angela Lewis-Hunte, Charles Kirk Carrothers and Mark Montgomery, Brandee Dinkins-Pettus and Shellee Dinkins-Scott; twenty-one great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal and dear friends.
Mrs Mary Lorraine Alexander, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Friend will be dearly missed.
