Allyson Robben Dowell
Allyson Robben Dowell died Wednesday, July 1st, 2015 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 40 years old. She is survived by her loving sons Joe and Sam Dowell, her parents Mark and Mary Robben, her brother Eric Robben (Brigid Coleman), her niece Molly Robben and nephew Brendan Robben, and many loving relatives and friends. Allyson graduated in 1989 from St. Francis of Assisi school, where she twirled baton, “starred” on the softball team, and served as Student Council President. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1993, where she volunteered widely (including at the KUTO crisis prevention center), wrote a local newspaper column, and served as Student Council President. She graduated from Truman State University in 1997, cum laude, with a degree in Biology, where she once drove with her friends through the night to take possession of a “no cruising” sign on Lindbergh Boulevard and did not serve as Student Council President. Not content with one bachelor’s degree, she graduated in 1999 from St. Louis University with a degree in Nuclear Medicine. She enjoyed working for several years in that field. Allyson had many interests and talents. She loved photography and was light years ahead of Pinterest in her appreciation of crafty gifts. She once painted her brother a rock for his birthday. She was known and loved by many for her keen sense of humor, including particularly napkin-based gags and a very detailed and ever-developing joke about a clown and a horse’s head. And she had a unique appreciation for under-celebrated holidays like half-birthdays and Groundhog Day. She loved her friends very much, especially her dear friend Carlos and her fellow PTS’s. The annual PTS Potluck Dinner was a highlight of many of her years.
You brightened my life for the little time that I knew you. I know you are pain free now and will be watching over your boys from above. I will miss you my friend.
