Norval Dale Nester, Sr.
Norval Dale Nester, Sr. died at his home in Chesterfield Missouri on July 23, 2015 with his loving wife Opal, his sons John and Bob, and his brother Harold at his side.
Norval was the first child born to Herod William and Marguerite Manila (Hernan) Nester on August 27, 1924 in Minier, Illinois. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He married Opal Eileen Buchanan on August 14, 1954.
Norval was a very successful sales professional and manager for the Behr Paper Company in Rockford, Illinois for 25 years. After retiring from Behr Paper Company, Norval worked on a part time basis foranother 10 years with the Case Paper Company, Chicago, IL.
Norval is survived by his loving wife Opal, three sons, John Melvin his wife Joan, Robert Alan his wife Kim, and Norval Dale Jr., Grandchildren Natalie Wilson (Jason), Christopher John Nester, Elliot Joseph Nester (Brooke) , Elizabeth Joy Hunsicker (John), Daniel Steven Nester and Timothy Alan Nester, Great Grandchildren Amelia and Isaac Wilson, and Lilly Nester and his Brother Harold E. Nester. Norval will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, and friends.
Norval was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Danita Coyne and Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan.
In 2012 Cynthia Thomas, a close friend of the family was concerned about Norval as he had not received Christ into his life. While arranging her own funeral service, she asked her Pastor, Hosea Bilyeu, to include words of encouragement for Norval to do so. At Cynthia’s funeral, Norval was so moved by Pastor Hosea’s words that it convinced him to receive Christ as his Savior and at the age of 89, on June 29th2014 was baptized by Pastor Hosea Bilyeu at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Norval’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday the 16th of August at Orlando Gardens, 2050 Dorsett Rd, Maryland .Heights, MO 63043 Phone: (314) 453-9000 at 3:00 in the afternoon. A committal service, with Military Honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis Missouri at 10:00 A.M. on Monday August 17th. Norval was a very kind and honest man. It was an honor to have him as a salesman.

My heart was heavy hearing of Norval’s passing, but I knew he had suffered. We are never ready to lose a loved one, we have to believe that he is in a better place. Also that he will be there to greet us when it is our time. Prayers are with you all! I will miss Norval , he always had a smile, even coming to see a doctor!
