Mr. Schellerup was born on September 30, 1918 in New York City to Viggo and Geraldine Schellerup. A second son William was born on November 17, 1923. A World War II veteran, Mr. Schellerup served as a Medic in the 98th division.

During the war, Robert exchanged letters with a young lady by the name of Ruth Woltjen whom he had dated before the war. After the war ended, Robert made a telephone call to Ruth from Honolulu. He asked her to marry him. She said yes.

Robert and Ruth were married on April 27th, 1946. Robert spent his career in the insurance business. He retired as an Insurance Manager of Consolidated Aluminum Corp. After retirement, Robert and Ruth enjoyed many trips around the United States and a trip to Switzerland. Ruth died December 14, 2000.

Robert was past President of the Ballwin Chapter of AARP and a past Commander of Fred W. Stockham Post #4 of the American Legion.

At the Pinochle Group in Woodsmill Village, Robert met Genevieve Dodge. On March 2, 2002, Robert invited Genevieve out to lunch. That was the beginning of a warm personal relationship and lasted nearly eight years. Genevieve died on February 15, 2010.

Robert is survived by his son William (Mary) Schellerup, his daughter, Ruth Ann Hoffman, granddaughter Jessica Ann Kempt (Cody), grandson Thomas Lee Hoffman, great granddaughters, Kiley Grace Kempt and Caroline Joy Kempt. Two nieces, Anna Mae Burdi-Ferrier (Ray) and Yvonne Schellerup, a nephew, Mark Schellerup (Connie).

There will be a service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on September 4, 2015 at 11:00am.

A future celebration will take place in accordance with Bob’s wishes.
