Alice M. English of St Louis, MO passed away on December 23, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born in St Louis, MO on July 19, 1925 and was the daughter and only child of Eugene R. Methudy and Frances Kricker Methudy of St. Louis. She was a loving wife for 46 years to Roger P English, who passed away on December 10, 2015. Her first marriage to Thomas F. Koch, ended in divorce. She was the loving mother of John T. Koch (Jane) of Aberystwyth, Wales, UK. stepmother to Rebecca (Christopher) D’Alleinne of Annandale, NJ, Sara (Humphrey) Crook of St Louis, MO, and the late David H English of San Rafael, CA. She was a loving grandparent to 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She attended the Clayton public schools and graduated from Clayton High School in 1943. Alice attended Northwestern University and graduated in 1946 from Medill School of Journalism with honors. She first worked as a news writer at KSD-TV before it became KSDK. Alice served as Program Director of KMOX Radio when it became a Sports-Talk Station, one of the first in the nation to adopt that format. In 1977, she and Roger formed English & English, Inc., a public relations agency specializing in institutional and corporate public relations. Alice and Roger moved to the family farm, English Acres in Pacific Mo in 1970, where they raised beef cattle and various crops. They embraced the country lifestyle. They loved caring for animals, both large and small, and a flourishing garden. In 1989, she and Roger moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. There she served on the Board of the Property Owners Association for its 13,000 residents and served as Board President from 1999-2002. In 2002, they moved to The Gatesworth, St. Louis where they lived for 13 years. They loved swimming and enjoyed an active lifestyle. Alice was elected to The Board of The Residents Association and also served as President.

Alice was known for her intelligence, success in the business world, respected for her leadership abilities and trusted to get things done. She was keenly interested in the well-being of others. She made sure her blended family was her priority by hosting many Camp English events, reaching out to and welcoming all family members. Alice and Roger lived a remarkable life together sharing common interests and they truly complimented one another throughout their marriage.

A memorial service for both Alice and Roger will be held on February 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, 9450 Clayton Road, St. Louis MO 63124. A light luncheon will be served after the service. A private family interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to The Salvation Army at stlsalvationarmy.org.
