Ron was born on July 6, 1933, in Quincy, Illinois to the late Elden and Alice Meyer Richards.
Ron earned his engineering degree in 1955 from the University of Illinois in Champaign. He became an engineer for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Company and later for The Boeing Company. Ron was an avid photographer; he loved to travel. Ron enjoyed bowling for years. He was an extreme St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ron was a model train enthusiast and built a layout occupying a large room in his basement. He was a member of the Wentzville United Methodist Church.
On July 28, 1956, Ron married Barbara Ann Grissom from Lauratown, Arkansas, who survives at home. Other survivors include daughter Rhonda Veenhuis and husband Mark; daughter Jill Fields and husband Mark; son Randy Richards; grandchildren Christopher and Caitlin Fields and Eric Richards.
So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I worked with him for many years at Boeing. He was a great guy and always so helpful with less experienced engineers. I still remember the Halloween parties him and Barb would have in their basement in St Louis. I will miss him.

Jill, Mark and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Remember all the good times you had with him, it helps.
You are all in my prayers.

I was saddened and sorry to hear about Ron’s passing. I had hoped to see Ron at a Mac’s Old Team Get Together, which is were I heard the sad news. I also worked along side of and learned from Ron. We went to some of those Halloween Parties in Paddock Subdivision. That is a great picture of Ron. I can remember him getting excited to make a point with one of us engineers, particularly a Designer. When he was successful we would see that smile. He always talked proudly about his kids.
