Dale Barton

Scan 3Dale Barton passed away unexpectedly in St. Louis on April 29, 2016 at the age of 59. Dale was born in St. Louis on July 12, 1956, daughter of the late Oliver and Sue Leonard.

Dale was the beloved mother of just one daughter-Kelly Anne, who she often called “Kell Bell” and the pround grandmother of Ryan, Tanner and Matthew. She is also survived by her 5 loving sisters, Leigh, Annette, Alison, Jeanette and Wendy and her 4 nephews and 5 nieces. She was also a great aunt, cousin and friend to many people.

Dale was quite the adventurer. In the late 1970s she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and lived there for almost 2 decades. During that time she worked as a realtor and really enjoyed selling the “American Dream” to many happy clients. She also collected classic cars and even drove a muscle car herself. Many people might be surprised to know that Dale had a small plane pilot license. Once, she actually co-piloted a 4 passenger plane over the Grand Canyon, a challenge for even the most experienced pilot. Another surprise-she loved sports and always had season tickets to the University of Nevada, LasVegas Rebels games. Her enthusiastic cheering was equivalent to the fervor of a small group of fans and brought her so much joy.

In 1994, Dale returned to Missouri where she resumed her real estate career. Unfortunately, health problems put her into early retirement, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying country living with her beloved husband Johnny until he passed away in 2015. Overcome with sadness, she left their country home and returned to the St. Louis area to be near to her sisters and family.

Overall, Dale will be remembered for her quirkiness and how silly she was. She was so much fun to be around and truly a unique light in this world whose brightness will never be replaced.

We miss you Toots!

    Kelly,
What a Great Tribute to your Mom! Although I’m sure that was one of the hardest things you will every have to do, you did an excellent job……..
What an amazing person she was and what a remarkable fun-loving life….Your Mom was an amazing lady, and I feel privileged to have known her. I know you will miss her deeply. I’ll be keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers. And praying that you’ll find comfort in your memories of her and in the knowledge that others are thinking of her and missing her, too.
I love you Kelly…….Always and Forever
    Aunt Kathy

To the family of Dale, please accept my deepest sympathy. Go back many years with Dale, back to elementary school. She was so much fun to be around. Always knew you were going to laugh when she walked in a room. In 5th grade we used to trade lunches. I always had to buy and she always got to bring. I would give her my money and she gave me her lunch. Rest In Peace, you will be missed by many. Hugs to Dale’s family. So sorry for Loss, Deborah Glaser Rathgeber

My mom is the oldest of the 6 sisters, so holidays were always a big deal. Xmas was always a lot of fun at my grandma’s house. I remember every year in the midst of the party, the phone would ring and everyone would know it was dale calling. It was funny. They’d all yell “DALE!!!”. I remember we’d take turns talking to her. It was every year. That’s just a funny memory I had of her as a kid. We always had fun when we’d visit them as kids. I’ll always remember johnny playing guitar and tellING us about the huge dogs and horses. Good memories 🙂
