White, Edythe
Edythe (Oltjenbruns) White, 102
Edythe G. Neumann was born July 10, 1913 in Colome, South Dakota to Alvin and Grace (Copper) Neumann and passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Sophia Health & Rehab Center, Florissant, Missouri.
Edythe married Henry B. Oltjenbruns in 1936 and lived and farmed the family farm northeast of Plainview, Nebraska, until Henry’s passing April 15, 1966. Edythe and Henry had two sons, Darold, Chesterfield, Missouri and Larry, Smyrna, Georgia; Larry passed away in February, 2013.
Edythe and Maurice White, both widowed, married in August, 1967. They lived at 410 West Street, Plainview until Maurice’s passing in September, 1994. Edythe then moved to her last Plainview residence on the property of Paul and Margie Havercamp.
Edythe was well-known in Plainview and surrounding area by many including a large number of close friends. However, she is probably best remembered for her close association with Mauck Studio and Tena, Harold, and Barbara Mauck.
September 7, 2004, Edythe moved from Plainview to Chesterfield, Missouri where she lived with her son Darold and his wife Lee Ann until being admitted to St. Sophia October 16, 2011.
Edythe thrived on outdoor activities caring for her flowers and, of course, indoor activities including baking, cooking, shopping, sewing – a homemaker of old – and traveling. However, as age caught up with Edythe, St. Sophia provided the care she needed in her later years. As a resident, she was very popular with staff and residents alike sharing celebrations for birthdays, mother’s day, and many holidays in the “Sun Room”. She will be missed by loving family members, friends, and those who came to know her at St. Sophia on such occasions.
Edythe is survived by her eldest son Darold Oltjenbruns, Chesterfield, MO; grandchildren: Kim (Oltjenbruns) Tucker, Kempner, TX; Kelly (Oltjenbruns) Assmann, Omaha, NE; Tammy Bourek, Norfolk, NE; Terri O’Neil, Savannah, GA; Stacy Jochum, Atlanta, GA; Mark Oltjenbruns, Woodstock, GA; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
