Eugene Joseph Stahlschmidt
Gene (Eugene) Joseph Stahlschmidt, 65 & 5/6 years of age, of Saint Charles County, gained his permanent retirement on August 30, 2016, when he changed his address from his house to Heaven.
Born on October 2, 1950 in Saint Charles County to his late parents, Ed and Mary Stahlschmidt of Portage de Sioux. Married on June 9, 1973, in Alton, Illinois to Marsha Keene Stahlschmidt. He was educated at Rankin Technical School. He was employed by Leonards Metal Incorporated for 40 years.
Gene loved Jesus. He loved his family. He often showed his love in silly, made up songs and poems. He had a quick wit, and a sense of humor that many may or may not admit to finding funny. He was a willing helper to anyone in need. He waged a constant battle against crab grass and moles in his yard. He enjoyed tractor pulls and family gatherings. His famous rendition of “happy birthday” phone calls will be terribly missed.
How joyful is the man whose quiver is full…
Gene leaves behind his wife Marsha, and five children Heather (Dave) Rodecap, Caryn (Ken) Evans, Amanda (Nick) Beck, Dwight (Shannon) Stahlschmidt, and Megan (Pat) Tierney. He was very well loved by twelve grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Spencer, Haley, Lucas, Max, Lilly, Tyler, Jet, Charlotte, Nicholas, Jr., Nora. He also leaves his sister Martha (Bob) Vogt of Saint Charles, and so many more extended family who loved and admired him. Along with too many friends to count.
A service to celebrate the life of Gene will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Calvary Church, 3998 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Saint Peters, MO 63376. A visitation from 2-4 p.m. and a memorial service will begin at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Sam Biggs Memorial Fund, benefitting childhood cancer, or to Backstoppers, benefitting those who serve in the line of duty.
I was so sorry to hear about Gene’s passing. He was always so kind and loving to everyone. I had just chatted with him on facebook about 2 weeks ago. I will miss seeing him on facebook. Prayers for all of his family and friends.
We knew Gene as a Godly man that walked the talk. Always pleasant with a kind smile and a caring spirit. He will be missed. Our hearts go out to Marsha, the kids and all of the family.
Stahlschmidt Family, I am deeply safdened at the sudden loss of your beloved Gene. I truely believe he was loved by all that knew him and I want you to know that we all share in your pain. I do want to encourage you all though in remembering that life is short and since Gene’s journey has now taken him to the ultimate destination, please find peace in knowing that you as well as of your Christian family members as well as Friends, will be with him again one day. If Gene could send us a message, I am 100% positive it would be one of overwhelming joy and happiness for what he is now experiencing in being with our Creator.
My family prays for all of you during this tough time and we ask that the Lord will give you all peace, comfort and strength. I will never forget Gene and the impact he had on my life from my childhood memories of him being my camp counciler to have just seeing him 2 weeks ago at church. May God bless you all.
Peace and comfort ,the Lord’s blessing and strenght to all of you
Praying for your sweet family. What a blessing to know Gene is celebrating with Jesus as you celebrate his life and testimony! Sending love to all of you as you hold each other and take in all the love from those who knew Gene and loved him!
Gene had a wonderful sense of humor and had the rare ability to poke fun at someone, that was truly good natured.
His wit, smile and good nature will be missed by us all.
Marsha, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. We know it is so hard to lose a loved one. My hearts breaks for you. Sending hugs and prayers
Marsha,
We were so sad to hear about your loss of Gene. While we didnt know Gene it was always nice to see you both smiling and greeting on Sunday mornings. Rick was surprised when Gene called him by name recently. We will miss seeing his smile. Please know we are praying for you and your family.
Love,
Rick and Lisa Reichert
