Elizabeth Johnson
Elizabeth Ann Johnson was born April 7, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Rayfield Carter Sr. and Winnie Woods. After the death of her parents at an early age, Elizabeth move to Pensacola FL to be raised by her aunt and uncle, John & Nellie Davis (both deceased).
Elizabeth was lovingly known as “Bess” & “Liz”. She was educated in the public school system of Pensacola, FL class of 1947. After graduating high school, she worked for the Coca-Cola Company & the Lamar Sign Company both in Pensacola, FL. Shortly after she met and married Lawrence Oliver Johnson Sr. who was in the US Army and moved to Washington, D.C. From that union they had two children Cathy & Lawrence. Amongst their many travels through the military, after they separated, Liz and the children finally settled in St. Louis, MO.
Liz soon found a career with the Federal Government as an Editor/Writer for 28 years until she retired. After retirement she decided to work part-time for the St. Louis Airport as a TSA agent in which enjoyed for 10 years.
Liz is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Jimmy) Cole; her son, Lawrence (Lindora) Johnson; 7 grandchildren, Tiffany (John) Williams, Jason Rollins, Lauren Johnson, Wayne (Laquita) Morris, Lawrence Johnson III, Lance Johnson, Chastity (David) Boney;12 great grandchildren; her sister-n-law, Jean Carter; her nephew, Rayfield Carter III; her niece, Sherry (James) Moyer; her loving and dearest friend, Christine Richardson; and a host of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Rayfield Carter Jr. and Godfrey Mahone Jr.
