Michael David Cartnal
Michael David Cartnal passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Anthony’s de Greeff Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with stage IV colorectal cancer.
Michael was born on January 30, 1952 in Flora, Illinois to Robert E. Cartnal and Beatrice E. Cartnal (nee Young).
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Family always came first with Michael. He will be in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Cartnal (nee Garrow); beloved daughter, Angela (Alexander) Vietmeier; dear grandchildren, Alexandria and Aidan Vietmeier; mother, Beatrice E. Cartnal; sister, Pamela (Kenneth) Rose; brothers, Joseph (Karen) Cartnal and Jeffrey (Tracey) Cartnal; mother-in-law, V. Pauline Garrow; brother-in-law, Alan (Joyce) Garrow; sisters-in-law, Joanne Orstead and Diane (Robert) Durbin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Cartnal; father-in-law, Franklin L. Garrow; as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Cremation rights have been accorded per his wishes. A Celebration of Life Memorial Luncheon will be held at Oaks Landing Recreational Clubhouse on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Donations may be made in honor of his memory to the Colon Cancer Alliance at http://cca.convio.net/goto/michaelcartnal

We send our love and prayers to all of Mike’s family. I remember well when Mike was born the rejoicing in our family to welcome another Carntal into the world. Now we rejoice that all the loving Cartnals in heaven are welcoming him home and he is free from all Earthly pain.
