Jane Prator Bryan was born Sunday, August 21, 1910 in Raton, New Mexico, a territory at that time.

Jane moved to Colorado at an early age where she was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Brighton.

It was there that she completed her formal education and went on to teach both elementary and secondary school for 27 years in Colorado and Oklahoma.

On Monday, July 4, 1938 Jane married Sidney Gould Bryan, Jr.

Jane and Sid had a son, Charles Gould Bryan, on November 29, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1978 at the age of 39.

Their second child, William Richard Bryan, was born on February 22, 1943 in the middle of World War II.

Jane, with her husband Sid, traveled extensively all over the world including St. Petersburg, Russia where she loved the art museums, Hong Kong, China because of the great shopping and the lovely people, and London, England for the live theater and the shopping at Harrods Department Store. They traveled to Europe over 24 times.

She was an accomplished China painter and painted many pieces as part of her hobby.

Jane was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church and upon moving to St. Louis, she became an honorary member of Peace Lutheran Church.

She was a long-time member of the Entre Nous Club and the American Association of University Women.

Jane was an avid bridge player and played until she began to lose her eyesight at the age of 95.

She enjoyed good health until the advances of age began to weaken her condition.

In 2013, she moved to St. Louis, MO where she took up residence with her son and daughter-in-law.

In August 2015 surrounded by family and friends, Jane celebrated her 105th birthday with much fanfare. She received a letter from President George W. Bush and a proclamation from St. Louis County making August 21, 2015 Jane Bryan Day.

Jane passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 peacefully in her sleep at home.

She leaves behind a son, William R. Bryan, his wife Maureen, and two granddaughters Ashley and Sydney and a grandson, Dr. Vincent M. Bryan, his wife Kelley, three great grandchildren Jennifer, Derrick, and Grace and one great great grandson Oliver and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
